Spinach in, a week late

The spinach finally went in on Sunday, two short rows in the bed by the shed where the beans were. It is a week later than I wanted, but the soil was still warm enough and the seed was fresh.

I soaked the seed overnight first. It is supposed to help with germination, and last year the rows came up patchy without it, so it costs nothing to try.

The garlic along the east fence is already showing green tips. The fence panel is still leaning over the row and the hens have not found a way around it yet.

For next year: sow spinach at the end of September, not in October. The days get short very quickly after that.
